What is the franchise all about?
This is a management franchise opportunity in the related fields of healthcare recruitment and homecare services. Healthcare recruitment refers to the supply of temporary and permanent nursing and care staff to a variety of organisations such as NHS hospitals, prisons, care homes, factories and schools. Homecare services refer to the provision of personal or social care to people in the comfort and security of their own homes.
How big is this market?
Current estimates state that the size of both the flexible healthcare staffing and homecare services market in the UK is around £3.7BN per annum and growing in line with the demographic shifts of the UK’s population.
I have never been in healthcare or run a business before!
Neither have most of our franchisees! Their backgrounds range from: printers, sales people, forces personnel and accountants, etc. We are looking for transferable skills not experience.
What makes you different from you competitors?
Many of our competitors focus solely on homecare, whereas we not only offer that service but also the related field of healthcare recruitment which means greater business opportunities, less risk and more strength in depth. We are a healthcare business that franchises as opposed to a franchise business that offers healthcare.
How long have you been franchising for?
The company first started offering franchises in 1998 and although there was little or no active recruitment between 2003 and 2006, the majority of the original franchisees remain with the company and all continue to run highly successful businesses. We began recruiting again in 2008 and have attracted a great deal of interest since then.
How many franchise territories are available?
We have franchise territories available in most parts of the UK, which will sit along side our existing managed and franchised network. So that we are able to fully support all new and existing franchisees we limit the number of new franchise territories to no more than 10 per year.
What skills do I need to have?
We are looking for a limited number of franchisees to run their own nursing and care agency. Although you do not need a background in care for this franchise, we do expect a firm commitment to owning, operating and developing your own business; a desire to deliver the best care or nursing service possible and a willingness to work hard and strive for continuous improvement.
What is the investment required for a Prestige Nursing franchise?
The total initial investment required is £30,000 ex VAT. This is split into £15,000 for the licence fee and £15,000 for the launch package. Please note this excludes the working capital requirements for the business.
I haven’t quite got all the money need for the franchise. Can you help me in raising additional funds?
Yes we can. In addition to your working capital requirements you might need additional funds for the launch package. Although we recommend that you have the vast majority of funds for the initial investment of £30,000, we will work closely with you in approaching lenders with a view to securing additional investment if necessary.
How much is the management fee?
We charge 7.5% of turnover as our management fee. This includes invoice and payroll preparation, all recruitment and vetting functions, dedicated new business development teams, use of Peninsula HR services and enrolment with all Prestige’s quality assurance programmes.
We recently amended our management fee from 10% to 7.5%. Please see revised projections below (therefore these are different to the printed brochure):

What does the launch package include?
The launch package includes everything needed to get your franchise up and running from day 1 and includes.

Do I need an office or can I work from home?
Due to CQC regulations, you will need an office to interview members of staff and register your premises to provide care. We will give you full assistance in finding suitable premises.
How much money can I make?
Your earnings depend on you!
Each individual will have different strengths and weaknesses so we suggest that, once you have visited head office, you should talk to Franchisees and match your background and drive to theirs- and this will give you a better indication of what you can earn personally.
What happens when I visit Head Office?
You will:
- Learn about the role and day-to-day running of a Prestige Franchise
- Review how you make your money
- Discuss territories
- Discuss the Prestige package and ongoing support
- Be free to ask questions on a one to one basis on, accounts, contracts, benefits etc….
- Sign a confidentiality agreement
Can I see a copy of the Franchise Agreement?
Yes. Once you have signed a confidentiality agreement.
Can any changes be made to the Franchise Agreement?
No, although we will ensure that every aspect of the agreement is fully explained to you. We would also suggest that you seek your own legal advice on the document.
Can I sell the Franchise in the future?
Yes. You can sell the Franchise at any point, and whilst Prestige will work with you to find suitable purchasers, we also have the option to purchase the business off you as well, provided we can reach agreement on its value. Prestige will vet all potential purchasers to ensure they meet the standards that we expect of our franchisees.
Can I talk to existing franchisees?
Yes. We will ask permission from our existing franchisees for you to talk to them once you have visited our Head Office and signed a confidentiality agreement.
Are you members of the British Franchise Association?
Yes. We are Associate members of the BFA and are currently in the process of applying for Full membership
Do I have to pay for you to research my area?
No. We will provide detailed territory research that includes the latest demographic data. We work with you to identify customers, research competitors and plan your marketing. All of this information helps us to develop a bespoke business plan with you.
Do I have to produce a business plan following an initial meeting?
No. Once you have paid a deposit, we will help you write your business plan and help you find finance for your franchise. We have contacts with all of the leading banks in the UK, all of whom have been briefed fully on the franchise opportunity.
When do I need to pay the deposit?
You will only be required to pay a deposit of £2,000 when you have decided you would like us to hold a specific territory for you.
Is the deposit refundable?
If you decide for whatever reason not to proceed with the franchise opportunity then part of the deposit is refundable, after the deduction of reasonable costs for territory research and business plan preparation.
How long will my franchise agreement last?
Our franchise agreement lasts for five years. After the first term of the contract franchisees have an automatic right to renew for a second term of five years if they wish. No further licence fee is payable at this time, each party will cover their own legal costs associated with the process.
What exclusivity do I have for my franchise?
You are given exclusive rights to the assigned franchise territory provided you meet minimum performance criteria.
What are the performance criteria?
We will work closely with you to ensure you meet the targets identified in your original business plan. Our aim is to make you as successful as you have told us you want to be.
How long does it take from signing the franchise contract to starting business in my territory?
Although every area is different, we would suggest 3-6 months as we work with you to complete your CQC registration, finalise the business plans, locate suitable premises and hire staff.
How are the franchise territories chosen?
We analysed the minimum viable size of a territory based on the performance of our existing franchised and managed branch areas. From this we were able to identify a typical population profile that was needed to ensure franchisees have every opportunity for success. This demographic analysis is backed up by detailed territory research that follows the deposit stage.
Can I buy more than 1 franchise territory?
Yes, but this is at the discretion of the Managing Director. We would look to see that a franchisee had the necessary staff and systems in place with the original franchise, and that they had a good track record of growth, before committing to another area.
What kind of support can I expect?
We limit the number of franchisees we recruit each year for a good reason, and that is because we are committed to offering the very best on-going support for all our new and established franchisees. Our dedicated franchise team provide hands-on support whenever it is needed, especially in the crucial launch period. We have regular franchise conference calls, quarterly regional meetings and an annual conference to share ideas and experiences whilst our business development teams will work closely with franchisees to help exploit local and regional opportunities as and when they arise.
Can I arrange my own payroll and invoicing in return for a lower management fee?
No. We have an extremely experienced team at our Head Office, who will be able to supply this service at a rate and at a quality far superior to that available elsewhere.
